Worked in Management for 9 years with this company.Smartstyle division .I truly became complacent...Regis is the WORST COMPANY..the 1st 3 years..I must say were good..They then changed whole Upper Management Staff..from Vice-President on down..A bunch of Ghetto Unprofessional Upper Management. (and I am Black). They dont take care of Thier Managers or stylist..Managers make 8 hrly and Stylist 7.25..if you don't make commission, commission is set so high..Its hard to achieve..I'll NEVER WORK FOR ANY SALON UNDER REGIS.

I. myself have worked for both Regis and Smartstyles (Brien Charles) here in Tennessee. My last experience was truly terrible!!!I encountered this vicious racist DISTRICT MGR(TAMMIE) that found a way to terminate me while on vacation? I made more money by myself than the rest of the team put together!!!Why would a person with any knowledge of professional ethics seek to terminate smart associates?

Racist stylist who "buzzed" when I wanted a styled cut

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A few. wks. ago I went in to a smart style in S.C. for a layered cut. The ONLY thing I noticed about this stylist was that she might have been bi-racial, since she had a very dark(black) afro style hairdo. I'm trying to relate everything I can recall, and don't wish to appear as being hesitant to have this young woman attend to my desired hair style. ANYWAY: She asked about using an electric razor on back of head, and I assumed it was only to do the nape of neck, NOT the whole back. I specifically told her I wanted the lower back of head thinned, and then a "layered cut" which didn't happen as she did the whole back with this razor. All the while, I tried to make convo., and it got me talking about a need to abolish the federal reserve. She IMMEDIATELY went into a rant about how Europeans slaughtered Natives all those yrs. ago, and ranted about this at least FIVE TIMES. I happen to be of European descent. She was clearly an "anti-white European" racist, and I was shocked at her hostile attitude, and accusatory tones, and couldn't even THINK about what she did to my head. I was talking solidarity against those who make us broke and taxed to death in the U.S., and she went off asking me if I had the nerve to agree with limits on immigration, PARTICULARLY muslims-HER words not mine. I didn't know mentioning government corruption would lead to a personal attack. I'm a senior, and her behavior had me rattled. I noted that she knew how to use an electric razor, but it was NOT WHAT I WANTED. She kept telling me I DID agree to what she did, and even though I explained my confusion as to how much she was going to use this razor, she kept insisting. I was so rattled, I stupidly paid for what I did NOT want. Later, after filling out a smart style survey, and relating my horrible experience with this MANAGER, I decided to send a detailed e-mail to Regis Inc. I was told "after a review of the situation" someone would get in touch with me. It's been almost 2 weeks, and last time I was in this walmart, I noticed this militant manager getting the sides of her head shaved, while retaining her deep black "fro". I thought she looked like she was ready for war with a mohawk "fro". I informed Regis that I was going to tell ALL the other "snowbirds" from eastern and midwest states, that migrated south about this experience, and that it is advisable to AVOID this Conway, S.C. smart style due to her hostile attitude, and that she might be racist, and that if you dare question her "styling techniques", she might look as if she would ATTACK.

Worst corporation to work for. Fired all cleaning crews. Probably so new CEO can pocket the money. Salons are not maintained and stylists get no bonuses or any fringe benefits. Company needs to take care of stylists and salons if they want to make it in this business.

Prices are outrageous

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had a shampoo and a trim. Cost was $28.00. Took the stylist about 15 minutes total because my hair is already short. While she did a good job on the trim, by the time I added to 20% tip, it cost me $34.00. The last time I came in for a color, the cost was well over $100 by the time I added the tip in. A touch up needs to be done every 3-4 weeks. That's a pretty hefty chunk of change. Time to find another stylist. Way too much money for what is being done and the amount of time it takes to get it done. They need to re-evaluate their pricing structure.

Working for Regis Corp.

There are a lot of ***’s for working with this company, but I would like to say that it did serve it’s purpose for my career path. I have been working for Regis for four years, and I have transferred from one state to another. At the initial salon I worked at the manager and district leader were for the stylist. I loved my manager, she took me right out of hair school and took me under her wing, taught me a lot of what she knew with her 10 years experience and really paid attention to me. Regis gives you some education but it really works out when the manager at your salon cares about the salon team, it runs smoother, and you have a better work environment. I really wish there was more consistency throughout the company in that way because this company needs more people in it like my first locations manager. Regis gives you a choice of up to 4 classes a year, you can only go if you really pay attention on their website about upcoming continuing education- and you also have to keep in mind that if you work the day that those classes are offered you may not be able to go because the salon still needs coverage. I would not go into working for Regis thinking you will get all this extra continued education; because that’s just not true. With that being said, you do get a ton of walk-in’s because Regis corp operates mostly in malls, or if you are in the Eagles branches you are in wal-mart’s or other high-traffic area’s. With this you can really gain experience. Ok, the downer part, the ***’s. The scary truth is that you end up getting paid UNDER minimum wage. They tax you 50% , plus tax you on the tips you make that clients put of their card and smack a “non-negotiable” on your pay check. It’s criminal really. I worked there 4 years, 2 different locations, and I got 42% commission raise after my current manager told the staff that it is up to her to raise people. There were two people who had been working maybe 3 months who got promoted to Designer stylist (which is essentially a level two stylist) and I could not get it because I had to wait a full six month before I got promoted again and it had been 4 months and my numbers were higher than both of my co-workers. There isn’t too much of a team environment in a mall salon, it is very competitive- so if your client comes in when you are not there another stylist will try to take that client from you. I have heard a lot of other stylist’s bad mouth their co-workers, and well our profession should not be like this. We have the same strife, we have the same education, we have the same aspirations. When I left Regis they took out my Regisconnect not even 3 days after I left. This website is important because it has your paycheck information. I would have liked to see what my final check says, and this way I can’t even see the numbers. Which is raising a lot of questions in my head. I will def. be calling the actual corporation because that just doesn’t sit well with me. I cannot even see my w-2’s anymore, and I will not be ripped off even more by this corporation. In a nut-shell I was treated poorly, but I took with me that I can handle high-traffic and that I have a lot of experience doing different services. If I were to do it all over I would have only worked here out of school for about 1-2 years and then moved on. You can find a better place to work for.

Went and got my hair cut at the Glennbrook mall here in fort wayne indiana. First of all the girl who cut my hair kept changing her years and days on how long she has been cutting.

I asked for a specific hair cut that I did not even get. I was so mad and still had to pay for it. The girls in there were very unprofessional and were playing around more then they were working. They were nice but not professional at all.

Not only did I not get what I wanted but I had to have someone else cut my hair. I called back the next day and the manager said I could come in and get a free haircut...FREE HAIRCUT?? I told her you guys will never touch my head again.

She said if I came in they would refund my money so guess where I am going today!!!!!! GETTING MY REFUND AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!
