On June 1 at 1:53 pm. my daughter, Simone who is eight months pregnant arrived at Regis salon, Oxford Valley Mall, Langhorne for a 2:00 scheduled appointment. Instead of receiving a welcoming greeting and asked to have a seat. She was reprimanded by the Salon Manager, Debbie for arriving too early. There was 1 client waiting and at least 1 client receiving service. After checking out the texture of her hair with a disapproving grin, the Salon Manager continued to address her with an attitude. Furthermore, the Manager, Debbie subtlety suggested that she should leave and return at 2:00 when the stylist was on site.

My daughter, Simone is a caring, sweet person and sees everyone in a good light. She was not prepared for this attack that for the first time was blatantly directed towards her. She felt shamed and belittled.

The stylist, Lilya did not have a clue of how to style ethnic hair. That was evident after witnessing her ripping and tearing through her hair for over an hour. But it was the finished product that told the truth. And it was a disgrace. Still my daughter not wanting to hurt her feelings, graciously thanked her and without hesitation paid her because that is what she knew to do.

We are not guinea pigs or patrons that can be used for practice. If you are not skilled at doing ethnic hair don't book appointments.

We had called several hair salons prior to booking this appointment and was informed that they did not have a stylist who could style ethic hair. That wasn't an issue. But claiming that you can, and you cannot. Unfortunately, turned out to be a disaster. Photo can be made available.

The next day, June 2, 2018 was her baby shower and instead of my daughter feeling confident and beautiful, her hair left her feeling embarrassed. She can never get that day back.

We have and can move quickly past a bad hair style, but the blatant disrespect and unwelcoming attitude, that seemed to be triggered by the texture of her hair, is not that easy to forget. It is unforgivable for this Manager to disrespect and judge my daughter by the texture of her hair especially my pregnant daughter who at the very least should have been offered a seat.

Sad
